The Funeral / Celebration of Life

There are now many different alternatives for funerals, wakes or celebrations of life, consider:

religious or non religious?

church, crematorium, other place such as a countryside venue?

a small family gathering or a large event?

one event at one place at one time, or separate events?

music: type, quantity?

will it be led by, a priest, a friend, a celebrant?

who will make the arrangements?

will it be a somber occasion, or more of a celebration or a ‘party’?

is there a dress code for those attending the event?

what food, drink music and flowers should there be?

What transport do I want

a) for the coffin (traditional hearse, horses, tractor and trailer – anything is possible!)

b) for other people (funeral cars, their own cars, by foot)

Do I want donations made in my memory? if so, to who?

Other things to consider:

Readings / address at the event

Notice of death in media

Memorial bench / tree

Video or photographs of your life at the event

A funeral photographer

Type of refreshments – picnic, hog roast, breakfast
